A disabled two-year-old boy has been given a life-changing customised walker built by ‘angels’ at a homeware store.
When they heard that Silus Johnson needed a one-of-a-kind walker that accommodates him as he continues to grow, the three total strangers took action..
Now the youngster, who suffers from Norrie Disease, which leads to blindness in infants and delays muscle development, has been given his brand new, lime green walker on wheels.
Silus’ mother Jessica Johnson, who has just moved to Fort Worth, Texas, had been searching online for an appropriate walker, and the boy’s great grandfather visited a local Home Depot store.
After speaking to store supervisor Matt Spencer and being introduced to employees Eric Bindel and Christopher Wright, the workers said they wanted to help Silus out.
Ms Johnson told CBS News: ‘You read about stuff like this, stuff like this doesn’t really happen.
‘As soon as we put him in there he was spilling around. He was able to move, the cause and effect of him doing that – that’s awesome.
‘We’ve already added bells on it and other toys to kind of play with, it’s really exciting to actually see him enjoy it and sit in it.’
Silus is already too tall for normal walkers, but his new one is adjustable to his height.
The little boy needs to move around to build up strength in his muscles, doctors say, and his new walker will enable him to do so for years to come.
